For those who spend the summer in the city, far from the coastal areas, urban swimming pools are happy islands in which to refresh oneself on the hottest days. And if the pleasure of a plunge can be combined with that of an aperitif à la Milanese, the level of enjoyment doubles. After telling you about the best outdoor swimming pools in the center, we’ve selected 5 of the best comfortable and welcoming locations in which to enjoy both services: clean water, ample spaces and quality food and beverages. And it’s all seasoned with great music. Take note!

1) Bagni Misteriosi – Via Carlo Botta N° 18

Among the most impressive pool-side aperitifs of Milan is the Bagni Misteriosi, set like a jewel of a by-gone time among the buildings of Porta Romana. With a view of the magnificent 1930s pools of an exquisitely retro location, the aperitif ritual – based on focaccia, pokè, raw meats and bao (steamed Chinese buns) – is bathed by a long list of gin and tonics, soft drinks, wines, beers and freshly-blended juices. To keep an eye on, on the website of the same name, evenings in collaboration with the nearby Teatro Franco Parenti, to combine the “nourishment” of culture with the food served at pool-side.

2) Ceresio 7 – Via Ceresio N° 7

A breath-taking view of the city opens over the rooftops of the headquarters of maison Dsquared2, from the area of the ADI Design Museum, which is the location of Ceresio 7, a panoramic restaurant with a terrace and two outdoor pools (accessible from morning to late afternoon). Here, from the aperitif to the after-dinner drink, unique cocktails and contemporary Italian dishes are served among the long drinks of Bar Manager Abi El Attaoui and proposals of Brianza chef Elio Sironi.

3) Fuorimano OTBP – Via Roberto Cozzi 3

It reads in full as Off The Beaten Path, the acronym that accompanies the name of this out-of-the-way bistro, built from an ex-industrial complex adorned with recycled pieces and immersed in greenery: here too, the aperitif – simple but successful, from gourmet pizzas to little hamburgers – is served at pool-side in the BlueGarden, which also hosts a weekend brunch.

4) Idroscalo – Via Circonvallazione Segrate N° 29

A rich schedule of sunset concerts in the “Sea of Milan”, the Idroscalo – a large park located between the municipalities of Segrate and Peschiera Borromeo and characterised by an artificial spring-fed lake – is another reason not to miss making the trip during the summer season: GUD Milano synonymous with quality at the best price, provides the aperitif on the eastern shore, on the magnificent terrace of the Beach Bar with kitchen, overlooking the lake.
