Those who think of summer in the city as synonymous with sun, loneliness and security shutters closed haven’t been to Milan for a while. Even in July and August, in fact, this little New York – as some call it – doesn’t stop amazing its visitors. We have selected 4 activities that you should not miss, from ‘rooftop aperitifs’, cinema under the stars and panoramic views of the city!

1) Aperitif on the terrace

There are many very special locations on the high floors of Milanese buildings from which to enjoy the best view of the metropolis while sipping delicious cocktails: well worth the trip is the elegant “Terrazza 12” at 28 Via Durini, on the top floor of the Brian&Berry building in Piazza San Babila, with a designer lounge bar and a substantial cocktail list, and the “Terrazza Triennale-Osteria con vista” at 6 Viale Alemagna Emilio, among the gourmet offerings from chef Stefano Cerveni. 2) Cinema under the stars

For various seasons, the event of Cinema under the Stars has gladdened the Milanese summers with extra-urban projections – free with obligatory reservation – among the areas of Cornaredo, Pregnana Milanese, Lainate and Arese. But summertime film lovers don’t necessarily need to go to the suburbs: in the two outdoor sites of Arianteo – Palazzo Reale and Chiostro dell’Incoronata – cinema under the stars comes to the city center. The same goes for the “Cinema di Ringhiera” of the Nuovo Armenia, which focuses on outdoor cinema during the summer season. Information here and here

3) Panoramic tour by rickshaw

If walking isn’t your priority, and if you prefer the privacy of secluded movements to public transportation, the rickshaw experience (for a maximum of two adults and one child up to 8 years of age) is for you: eco-friendly (since the driver pedals the vehicle), allowing you to see all the main tourist attractions of the center, with strategic stops to take photos, in just a couple of hours. Comfortable and with free cancellation up to 24 hours prior to departure. Information here

4) Navigation on the Navigli

Milan on its most representative water courses, the Navigli: there are many themed offerings, escorted by expert guides, and among the most worthwhile are the boat tour of the Darsena (with meeting point in front of the Basilica of Sant’Eustorgio) and the navigation of the Naviglio Grande with dinner on board.
