Is it too hot in the city? Milan offers a range of places where you can stop, slow down and spend a few hours feeling as though you’re far from the city centre. Historic swimming pools, rooftop bars, urban spas and hidden gems where you can cool off between appointments and a stroll.
Here are our recommendations:
📍BAGNI MISTERIOSI (Via Carlo Botta 18/A)
A true classic of the Milanese summer. The Bagni Misteriosi, inside the Franco Parenti Theatre, are more than just a swimming pool: they are a spectacular, cultural and urban space, where you can move from the sunshine to the theatre, from relaxation to an aperitif by the poolside. Perfect for those seeking a refreshing break, but with a distinctly Milanese flair.
When to go: during the day for the pool, towards the evening for a more informal aperitif.
📍CERESIO 7 (Via Ceresio 7)
Two swimming pools on Milan’s most exclusive rooftop, offering views over the city, cabanas, cocktails and an international atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for anyone wanting to experience Milanese summer in its most spectacular form, amidst the skyline, sunshine and aperitifs.
When to go: at midday to soak up the sun, or in the late afternoon to stay until aperitif time. Cabanas on the terrace can be booked.
📍QC TERMEMILANO (P.le Medaglie d’Oro 2)
A wellness break in the heart of the city. Just a stone’s throw from Porta Romana, QC Termemilano offers a little urban escape: swimming pools, wellness circuits, saunas, relaxation rooms and outdoor areas sheltered by the Ancient Spanish walls. It’s the perfect place to head to when the heat becomes too much and you want to carve out a moment of respite and true rejuvenation.
When to go: in the afternoon or towards evening, to wind down the day gently.
📍THE SANCTUARY (Via Valenza 16)
Located in the former Porta Genova railway yard, The Sanctuary Milano brings a contemporary approach to wellbeing to the city. Concrete, steel and large industrial spaces blend with natural materials, tactile surfaces and tropical greenery. The result is an immersive setting, where the swimming pool with its sun terrace and gardens will make you feel as though you’re in Bali – yet just a stone’s throw from the heart of Milan!
When to go: best between Tuesday and Thursday, from 11.00 am until early afternoon, to enjoy the pool area in peace and quiet.
